Landscape Development

Something that plays a crucial part of my site is the landscape and the connection of the buildings with the surroundings. Which leads me to the conclusion of being able to access any part of my Community Center from mostly any part of the park. The paths towards every single entry of the building are specially made to fallow the angle, direction in which the buildings are facing.

Another thing to play around with, is the different elevations that the vertical angle of the structure is creating. Ramps could go into the ground or a couple of feet up too creating a variety of ramps with distant lengths and dimensions.

  1. Hi Richard,

have you thought of the different materials in the landscape and in the building? Are all buildings same texture? Do you mean to make these inbetweens between the pathes same grass or will it be different textures?

I was discussing with somebody also how does the volume fit in the volumes of New York in that area. Will you do a study on this?

    thanks

    1. Yes Ms.Maria, I have think of the materials and I wanted to create a facade that plays along with one the biggest component of the site which is the trees that are in a specific grid. So my exterior will have a natural look instead of being aggressive.

  2. Hi Richard,
When dealing with the open spaces , start looking at the Vehicular and pedestrian linkages to and from the site. The circulation pattern is important. You need to study the volume of vehicles entering to the site, including the service vehicles and emergency access to the civil defense vehicles.
The sunny and shaded areas shall be delineated to exploit them for the best use of plazas and pedestrian linkages, according to the seasonal patterns. The selection of plant material ( Trees , shrubs, ground covers, lawn ) and hardscape shall create apt foreground to the buildings.
The geometry you are working on is fine, but keep the above aspects in mind while refining the landscape further.
    Thanks
