Clayton Community Center
Based on the research and the site analysis I have done for 175 Cadman Plaza Park, a community center it would be a good idea for the people in the neighborhood because there are a lot of families and young people as well that live around the park. They could benefit from this due to there are no place for the people to gather. While I was analyzing the site I did noticed that plenty of people usually met their to talk, walk around a little bit, exorcise, play with their pets and sports as well.
Nieuwegein City Hall and Cultural Center
Community Centers help bring a sociable environment in every place, specially it will do more for this neighborhood. For this building it type might be a about arts and crafts, educational and as well recreational for the children and parents in the community and surroundings.
Some examples of this typologies are:
-Clayton Community Center
Location: Clayton, Victoria, Australia
Architect: Jackson Architecture
-Nieuwegein City Hall and Cultural Center
Location: Nieuwegein, Paises Bajos
Architect: 3XN
-Zamet Centre
Location: Rijeka, Croatia
Architect: 3LHD
-The Lavezzorio Community Center

-Surry Hills Library and Community Center

-Cultural Center in Nevers

-Palo Verde Library and Maryvale Community Center

My goals i'm trying to accomplish with this building typology is to actually bring closer the community to one physical place, where they actually have the resources to be with family and friends. A place where they can interact, learn and create stuff together. The site it helps as well because it is very central and around the neighborhood there are not places like this.
For this to happen the building it self would need:
-Auditorium or Small Exhibition area
-Library
-Classrooms
-Arts and Crafts Room
-Gymnasium
-Daycare
-Lobby
-Storage
-Mechanical Room
-Offices
-Bathrooms
-Janitor Room
Hi,
ReplyDeleteyou neglected so far the relationship between building and park, as this is very important. Are some activities connecting to the outdoors? (ex. festivities like open air cinema, or sports?)
As such, I would look into your heights studies, namely the difference between high rise and low rise buildings. I would look into the connection to function, what functions have these. As this would determine who is using the community center at what time of the day and for what (ex. reunions of the employees in the skyscrapers, or usage of the park for gathering of the neighbourhood).
